‘A life-like Zoetrope fills the room while rays of light tell the story. ‘ -ah

Doors is a story of a woman’s journey in finding her inner self. She looks for love but finds pain. There is a struggle, but in the end a quiet peace is discovered as she stands alone.

The doors mirror the layers that she went through to find her answers and herself.

The actual photographing was a process in itself requiring two different shooting spaces.

My garage is where all the people were initially photographed. My home became the second studio, where a hallway of five doors met my lens. Projections of everyone I photographed starting to fall into place once I was able to see them together on the doors. A life like Zoetrope filled the room while rays of light told the story.

This was a difficult story to tell, I had done it all backwards so to speak. First I took the portrait images, then arranged them in groups photographing them again as one picture on the doors. The story had to be exact or the images would not work together. In the end, this compilation came alive using no digital alterations.
