*Click on image to view the show. This short is about a journey. Most young people in the United States of America dreams of backpacking through Europe, and that’s exactly what my brother and I did. We stayed in Camden Town in Europe, took the Eurorail to Germany and France where we stopped to celebrate Christmas at the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris. Then off we went to Amsterdam for the New Years Eve celebration; and a celebration it was indeed. Best trip ever! |

*Click on image to view the show. ‘A life-like Zoetrope fills the room while rays of light tell the story. ‘ -ah Doors is a story of a woman’s journey in finding her inner self. She looks for love but finds pain. There is a struggle, but in the end a quiet peace is discovered as she stands alone. The doors mirror the layers that she went through to find her answers and herself. |
The actual photographing was a process in itself requiring two different shooting spaces. My garage is where all the people were initially photographed. My home became the second studio, where a hallway of five doors met my lens. Projections of everyone I photographed starting to fall into place once I was able to see them together on the doors. A life like Zoetrope filled the room while rays of light told the story. This was a difficult story to tell, I had done it all backwards so to speak. First I took the portrait images, then arranged them in groups photographing them again as one picture on the doors. The story had to be exact or the images would not work together. This story is a documentary of ‘a day in the life of Demo. Though it had been a work in progress for many years, it signifies one day. A day for which any of the other 364 days in the year could also reflect. Strong unity surrounds him, created by family and friends. He is a compadre to many and loved by all. One way in which Demo shares love is through his talent of cooking. The first night I met him he gave me a plate of his cooking. I had never tasted anything so succulent and delicious. That was the beginning of a beautiful friendship, one which I still cherish to this day. In dedication to my friend Demo, I bring you this story. From his heart, to my heart, to your heart.
